Meditation Reimagined

Meditation has been the cornerstone of my healing, spiritual growth and soul journey. But I had to let go of my old ideas about meditation so it could become the sacred healing tool I needed.

If you still think of meditation as a frustrating time when you try to empty your mind and fail, then you need to reimagine and rediscover meditation for yourself.

Meditation doesn’t have to be perfect and you can’t do it wrong.

The truth is it’s normal to have an imperfect meditation. You are not going to instantly sink into peace and stillness – but you will if you be gentle with yourself, be patient and give yourself time.

When you stop, close your eyes and sit and do nothing, you are already easing your body, mind and soul. You are turning away from the voices and noise of the outside world and turning to the voice within.

In this quiet and stillness, your pain, anger, frustration and fear may rise up. That’s okay. Let it rise up in this sacred space. Acknowledge it’s there. Then ask your angels, guides, divine teachers and God to help you heal it and release it. This may take 20 or 30 minutes. It may take longer. But eventually you will feel the pain easing away, you will feel the peace flowing in, and you will be ready to feel, see and listen within you and see what you find there.

In this still and sacred space you can ask for more healing. You can ask for guidance. But most importantly of all you can ask to feel divine love. This is what changed my life – feeling the unconditional divine love of my angels, guides, teachers and God, knowing I was loved no matter what I did or didn’t do, knowing I was loved no matter how much I messed up.

The most pure way of thinking of meditation is to see it as sitting in love. You are taking time out to call in the love of your angels, guides, teachers and God, and to sit in this love. This love will heal you, guide you, awaken the divine love within you, and bring you back to your soul.

Don’t be afraid to choose the method of meditation that suits your personality. I can never empty my mind by consciously thinking of emptying my mind. I find focussing on a feeling or idea keeps me in my mind and stops me from sinking into my soul. What works for me is visualising a journey. I love to see myself walking a path of light, running through a forest, or flying up into the clouds. This aligns me with my imaginative, intuitive side, the side of me that works most easily with my soul. I feel I am moving forward in the meditation and this helps me move forward in my life. The symbolism helps me to break through old barriers that my mind would get hung up on.

Let your meditation be a sacred time out to connect to divine guidance, receive healing, sink into peace and feel the love of the Divine.

Remember your meditation won’t be instant and is often imperfect. It can take whatever form you choose. It is taking quiet time out to listen to your inner voice instead of the voices and noises of the world. It is a beautiful moment to sit in love.

The next time you feel resistance to meditation, remember you are simply going to sit in divine love. Know you are worthy of this love. Know you are this love. Know you are loved.

Day by day, step by step, breath by breath meditation will change your life because through it you will discover that everything you need is already within you – all the love, healing, peace, joy, light, wisdom, guidance and abundance you seek is within you. Reimagine meditation in a way that works for you and you can tap into it all now.
